Launched in 2014 at the Habano Festival, the Le Hoyo de San Juan represents a true revolution within the historic Hoyo de Monterrey brand. For the first time, Habanos S.A. focused on the specific origin of the tobacco to name a vitola, paying homage to the San Juan y Martínez denomination of origin, in the heart of Vuelta Abajo, where the renowned Hoyo de Monterrey plantation was founded in 1865.

This vitola expands the classic Le Hoyo Series, which traditionally featured slender or medium ring gauge formats, incorporating for the first time in decades a new thick gauge size. Its factory name, Geniales, designates a generous format measuring 150 mm in length with an imposing 54 ring gauge, allowing the full appreciation of a blend crafted exclusively with Seco and Ligero leaves from the finest fields of San Juan y Martínez. The result is a habano that maintains the brand’s characteristic smoothness but with a consistency, complexity, and aromatic intensity unique to the San Juan terroir.

Entirely handmade with long filler (Totalmente a Mano con Tripa Larga), the Le Hoyo de San Juan is presented in classic slide-lid boxes (SLB) of 10 and 25 units, featuring innovations such as an adhesive label and an elegant white ribbon for easy identification. Its construction is generally excellent, offering a smooth draw and even burn, allowing for an experience of 45 to 60 minutes.
